Artist's Comments

Hehe, I started painting this last night and it turned very much into a representation of misseh
I hope ya likes it misseh, I kind of like how it turned out (But it didn't photograph well).
I knows ya was curious about the thing where everybody has a color, but it isn't really so much a color as a mixture of colors and textures and things. So this is kind of how I see you =)

My favorite part of the thing is the little mixed blue and white droplets of paint near the bottom, cuz they remind me of milk in tea, which reminds me of miss hizzy anyhow.

Acrylics and watercolors again. I could've done it with only acrylics, but trying to thin it enough to make a good wash is messy and tiresome.

Umm while painting this I used a ruler, a spoon, and two brushes. I'm disliking brushes a little less now, as I'm beginning to find clever things that they can do.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love Pthalo Blue? That, along with Payne's Grey, is one of my very favorite colors.

Thanks! I'm really glad you mentioned the texture, it's something I've really been working at lately, and it's nice to know that someone's noticed.

Pthalo blue is such an amazing color. I like the fact that it's transparent, because you can get a lot of nice effects from layering it over darker colors. It catches the light really well, even if you can't see it much in the photograph.

Thanks for your comment (and for listening to my rambling) :giggle:

I totally agree with you on your continued disliking of brushes. They have a great purpose in abstract art..but I only use them for solid/ large portions of backgrounds and blending. I use them in conjunction with broken cd cases or crumpled paper..but overall I don't use them much either.

This is an incredible piece.. the texture is amazing.

Finally someone agrees! If I'm trying to get a solid color I'll use brushes for doing say a thin wash of acrylics in the background, but generally I'll avoid them. I am really fond of one fan brush that I have though, it has very stiff bristles and is good at spreading paint in a streaky sorta way. I use everything, from rulers and spoons, safety pins, cotton wool, old pieces of stockings. Anything that'll give me the right texture, really.

I'm so glad that you like it, I actually kind of like this piece myself :)
